Scholarship: The Patriot

Value: (1) $750 scholarship for a student going on to a four-year college or a trade school and (1) $750 scholarship for a student going into the military (to be used towards travel to be with family).

Deadline: Submissions need to be received by 11:59pm on April 1, 2018.

The Basics

A scholarship for graduating seniors of Southwick Tolland Granville Regional School District who display patriotism, conservative values and leadership qualities.

Qualifications

Applicants must be:

A legal resident of the United States of America (DREAMERS are not eligible).
A conservative student with conservative parents OR a conservative student with liberal parents (clearly that’s a tough kid).
Must be going to a trade school or four-year college and NOT majoring in basket weaving or similar programs. OR must be going into the military, in which case the scholarship will be earmarked to help them travel home to see their families.
There are no “financial need qualifications” for the family. However, the student must be paying a minimum of 50% of their own way through school.
Must have part-time work experience.

The Application

Students will need to either write a letter on why they believe they should receive “The Patriot” scholarship and/or produce a video on why they should be selected. Points will be awarded for creativity.
Students AND their parent(s) will have to fill out a questionnaire.

When was the last time you cried and why?
What's your favorite thing to do in your free time?
What are your thoughts on the current college environment as it pertains to a future workforce?

What are your thoughts on the drinking age being 21?
Should marijuana be legalized?
How would you handle it if you arrived at a party in college and there were drugs being used?
